Selecting a Hardwood Floor
Alpine Flooring can help you sort through the details of choosing a wood flooring
that is right for your job. There is a wide selection of wood floor products in the
market today. It is important to compare costs as well as types of construction,
durability, finishes, warranties and to choose the right company to perform the work.

Simply put, wood flooring can be classified as follows: species of wood (hard/soft,
domestic/exotic); pre finished or unfinished; solid, engineered or laminate; wood
style (strip, plank, or parquet); cut and grade of the wood; natural color of the wood,
and If pre finished, the kind and color of stain that has been applied.

Floor Types
Solid Wood is milled from one piece of wood and is generally used when
installing over a wood subfloor where the hardwood will be attached to the subfloor.
It comes unfinished or pre finished.

Wide Plank Flooring
Affordably priced, wide plank flooring can be left natural
for a warm honey tone or stained as desired. In boards up to one foot in width,
those searching to enrich their homes look no further then wide plank flooring.

Reclaimed Flooring
Reclaimed wood flooring imbues a look and feel that you cannot match.
Many of our customers come back to us after purchasing one of our reclaimed floors
to convey how much the wood has enhanced and enriched their space.

Pre-finished Wood
Flooring Pre-finished wood flooring is hardwood flooring sanded and finished at the mill.
Finishes are applied in controlled, dust-free environments. High-tech processes
insure beautiful durable finishes.

Unfinished Wood Flooring
Unfinished flooring provides you with more stain color and finish options,
especially if you want to match existing color schemes or furniture.

Engineered Flooring
Produced by adhering layers of real hardwood with a plywood backing or
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). The bonding process makes this type
of flooring less likely to be affected by changes in humidity. Engineered
wood flooring make an excellent choice over concrete sub-floors, radiant heat
or areas with higher moistures. Most engineered floors can be refinished
depending on the thickness of the veneer (top wear layer),
and the skill of the craftsmen.

Laminate Flooring
It is a photographed image of finished hardwood and can not be refinished.
Laminate is a multi-layered product developed to perform as a highly durable,
easy-to-clean-floor and comes pre finished. Laminate flooring often comes in three
different forms; strips, planks, or squares. They are extremely durable and highly
resistant to scratches. Although not waterproof, laminate floors are more resistant
to water damage than traditional wood floors. Most manufacturers guarantee the
surface will not fade or wear through. The high-tech surface of a laminate floor is
designed to be cleaned by vacuuming and occasional damp mopping.
